City detectives have arrested Nicholas Mugo, popularly known as DJ Moh Spice, for brazenly displaying a pistol at a city nightclub.

DJ Moh was photographed with a pistol tucked under his belt during the birthday party of DJ Kym Nickdee held at K1 Club. The photos went viral on social media.

On Thursday, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said DJ Moh was arrested following an outcry from the public.

A Steyr pistol and 174 rounds of ammunition found in his possession was confiscated.

Other celebrity deejays who attended the party were Dj Crème de la Crème and Dj Joe Mfalme among others.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s first born daughter Saumu Mbuvi has opened up on her battle with depressed after her breakup with the father of her child.

Saumu revealed how she started taking antidepressants pills parting ways with Ben Gatu.

She also shared details of her roller-coaster relationships with ex-boyfriends.

She got into her first relationship at the age of 21 “with a lot of nativity and expectations that it would lead to marriage.

‘DEPRESSION PILLS’

“Let me use myself as an example, my first relationship I was only 21 young and naïve. Thinking the relationship would lead to marriage, it totally damaged me and left me on depression pills for a while. The same fear of being judged is what I had until I choose myself and my child’s happiness over everything,” said Ms Mbuvi.

The mother of one separated with Ben Gatu in 2017. She accused him of using her for political mileage.

A few months later she started dating again.

“My second relationship at 23, at least with a bit of experience, anything that involved violence was a no for me. I was stronger and dint care how many would criticise me, my health and happiness came first and that of my daughter,” she narrated.

IDENTITY

She started flaunting pictures of herself with her new bae, but she however was careful not to reveal his identity.

Saumu ended her narration with a word of encouragement to women.

“Don’t beg to be loved and respected, seek God’s guidance in everything you do and the most important weapon, Prayer,” wrote Ms Saumu.

Multiple Grammy Award winning group, Soweto Gospel Choir, will perform in Nairobi for the first time at the Christ is Alive Ministries (CITAM) Karen church on Friday evening.

The popular choir will headline the Soweto Gospel Festival at CITAM Karen church courtesy of NTV.

KENYAN SINGERS

Kenyan gospel singers Pitson, Evelyn Wanjiru, Nikita Kering, Tanzanian Paul Clemet, Redforth Chorus, Karura Voices and Spellvcast Choir will also perform at the festival.

During a press briefing Thursday morning in Nairobi, the choir members expressed their excitement of being in Nairobi and East Africa with a promise for an electrifying performance.

“We are thrilled to be performing in Kenya, especially as this will be our first visit to East Africa,” said the choir’s Executive Director Beverly Byer.

The Soweto Choir, which was formed to celebrate the unique and inspirational power of African gospel music, grabbed its third Grammy at the 61st annual ceremony which was held in Los Angeles on February 10th this year.

GRAMMY AWARDS

Their three albums – Blessed, African Spirit and Freedom – won the Grammy Award for Best Traditional World Music Album in 2007, 2008 and 2019, respectively.

The choir was formed in Soweto, South Africa, by David Mulovhedzi and Bryer, the two choir directors. The choir has received many accolades which include, five Grammy nominations.

The voices of the band can be heard on the soundtrack to the new The Lion King movie singing Circle of Life Nants Ingonyama alongside compatriot Lebo M.

Notable persons who have been charmed by Soweto Gospel Choir’s performances include former South African President the late Nelson Mandela, former US presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, the British Royal Family, American celebrity Oprah Winfrey and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Top American entertainer DJ Khaled has hinted at a possible collabo with the ‘Dundaing’ hitmaker Magix Enga.

In a screenshot shared by Magix Enga, Khaled expressed his love for “good sounds and good music”, saying he does not hesitate supporting international acts like Magix Enga.

Controversial music group Ethic have suffer another blow after their latest music hit song ‘Figa’ disappeared from YouTube.

The song was released in June this year creating abuzz with its salacious lyrics and explicit music video.

Figa had amassed more than a million views on YouTube before its disappearance.

The group had a confrontation with security guards during their last concert at the Koroga Festival held in Tatu City.

The scuffle dealt a big blow to the music group’s public image to their fans and organisers.

They later patched up things with the organisers.

Ethic made up of four young men namely, Swat, Rekles, Zilladropa, and Seska, came into prominence last year with the song ‘Lamba Lolo’.

The song became an instant hit with its catchy phrase was widely adopted in sheng language that is spoken by many youth.

The song also suffered a similar fate as their current hit ‘Figa’ as it also mysteriously disappeared on YouTube.

Lamba Lolo was, however, reinstated.

Popular reggae deejay Nicholas Mugo Mwangi popularly known as DJ Moh Spice has been released after he was arrested on Wednesday night.

DJ Moh Spice was arrested after he was photographed with a pistol tucked under his belt during the birthday party of DJ Kym of Nickdee Entertainment which was held at K1 Klubhouse. The photos went viral on social media.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the DJ had no case to answer on accusation of firearm licensing and he was released on the day he was arrested.

The DCI also noted that the entertained is a licensed firearm holder and it is upon the national gun owners association of Kenya to determine what to do with him being a member.

Civilians licensed to carry guns are required to conceal them at all times.

FULL EXAMINATION

His firearm is still held by authority for full examination as is the norm.

He was released on police bond with no criminal charges but he faces disciplinary measures.

On Wednesday, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said DJ Moh Spice was arrested following an outcry from the public.

Octopizzo has set tongues wagging on social media with a new hairdo with many declaring it a fail on the rapper’s creativity on matters grooming.

The entertainer appeared on the musical show 10 over 10 on Citizen TV on Friday night to talk about his latest new music titled “Kanye”.

He also commented on singer Willy Paul’s change in music Genre mocking him that he should not expect any ‘Sadaka’ as he transition to secular music.

But his speech appeared to land on deaf ears as netizens could only comment on his hairstyle.

Octopizzo normally shaves his hair leaving some on the crown of his head. This time around, though, he decided to plait cornrows at the hair left at the crown of his head, and topped off the look with a hair extension.

The incident that led to the arrest of popular reggae deejay Nicholas Mugo Mwangi, also known as DJ Moh Spice, for displaying a pistol tucked under his belt was unnecessary, the Chairman of the National Gun Owners Association of Kenya, Anthony Wahome, has said.

Speaking to Nairobi News on phone, Mr Wahome said that the incident was ‘overhyped’ by Kenyans on social media prompting police to arrest the deejay for something that he did not do intentionally.

Mr Wahome explained that DJ Moh Spice was not brandishing the gun but it was the action of outstretching his hand to hold a glass at DJ Kym Nickdee’s mouth that exposed his concealed firearm.

“In the case of the deejay I think the issue was overhyped by Kenyans online. He was not intentionally displaying the weapon or brandishing it. It’s because his shirt went up and it was revealed. And I am surprised that the DCI says that it is upon us to determine what should be done to him,” said Mr Wahome.

“We do have internal self-regulatory mechanisms guided by our constitution. However, not all gun holders are members of the association. If a member comes at our shooting range and behaves unethical or uses his or her firearm carelessly then we take action. But over and above, if the person commits a criminal act then the law of the land will take effect,” he added.

ARRESTED

Following the incident, DJ Moh Spice arrested and his firearm and ammunition confiscated.

However, the DJ was later released on police bond with no criminal charges, with the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) saying that he had no case to answer on accusation of firearm licensing.

The also revealed that the entertainer is a licensed firearm holder, stating that it is upon the National Gun Owners Association of Kenya to determine what to do with him being a member.

Gospel singer Bahati’s newborn son maybe just a few days old, but he appears to have already acquired some online frenemies.

Bahati and his wife Diana Marua welcomed their son on Wednesday naming him Majesty and the father of four took to social media to share the good news with his fans.

Bongo superstar Diamond Platnumz and his Kenyan girlfriend Tanasha Donna have set the date for their baby shower for Thursday, August 22, 2019.

The Kenyan radio presenter made the announcement on her Instagram page on Saturday evening.

Diamond and Tanasha are expecting their first baby as a couple.

Tanasha further revealed that the all-white party will be held at the Best Western Coral Beach Hotel, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The couple announced that they were expecting a son on July 7, 2019, during Tanasha and Mama Dangote’s birthday party dubbed 707 After Party.

Genge rapper Mejja is in love again after enduring the heartbreak of being ditched by his wife of five years through a text message.

Sometime last year, Mejja, who makes the trio of The Kansoul group, revealed that he battled depression and at one point contemplated taking away his life.

This was after his wife of five years and the mother of his daughter dumped him via text message despite them not having any misunderstanding, according to the artiste.

“We had not disagreed. Actually we were so happy. I was in Thika and I got her message asking me if I had arrived well. I told her yes and the next thing she told me was ‘move on with your life'” Mejja revealed in a past interview.

The artiste said that all his efforts to salvage his marriage never bore fruit as his estranged wife kept ignoring his calls.

The situation drove Mejja into depression and for a whole year he struggled to come to terms with the reality of his collapsing marriage.

IN LOVE AGAIN

However, Mejja now seems to have moved on.

On Sunday, he formally introduced his new girlfriend to his fans via Instagram.

Mejja shared a picture of him and his new bea accompanied with a very telling caption.

With just a month to go before she delivers her first child, singer and radio presenter Tanasha Donna is already thinking of having many more kids with his Tanzanian superstar boyfriend Diamond Platnumz.

Speaking while responding to her fans in a live feed on Instagram, Tanasha revealed that she is ready to carry another baby for Diamond.

SERIAL ‘HEART BREAKER’

“Probably once my kid is about 5 to 7 years old then we can think about,” Tanasha said.

Another fan sought to know if Tanasha isn’t scared of being dumped by Diamond, who is infamously a serial ‘heart breaker’.

Bongo flava artiste Harmonize is set to become the second musician to ditch Diamond Platinumz’s record label WCB Wasafi.

Harmonize has already handed in a termination request to the WCB management asking to terminate his 15-year contract with the label with immediate effect.

After weeks of speculation about his exit, with rumours that he had a fallout with Diamond that saw him skip two Wasafi Festival Shows this year, WCB manager Sallam SK Mendes on Wednesday came out clean.

Appearing on Block 89 Wasafi Radio program, Sallam revealed that Harmonize had already tabled a letter requesting to leave the label.

“Harmonize kwa sasa hivi ndani ya moyo wake haupo WCB. Harmonize kimakaratasi bado yupo WCB. Harmonize ameshatuma barua ya maombi ya kuvunja mkataba na yuko willing kupitia vipengele vyote vya sheria kuweza kuterminate mkataba wake,” Sallam revealed.

CONVENE A MEETING

He added that they were happy with his honest move and would convene a meeting to come up with the modalities of how to go about it before making an official.

But even with Sallam’s revelation, many have been left wondering what could have prompted Harmonize to want out of a label that has helped him grow over the years from being a little known musician to a star.

According to a source who spoke to Nairobi News, a former employee with the label who is close to Harmonize, the singer feels he is being used by the label.

“Harmonize is grateful of the opportunities the label has created for him to a point that he has become the second most profitable artiste in the label after Diamond Platinumz. However, in the recent times, he has been investing a lot of his money into his music brand as compared to what was promised by the label. Hence, with all these solo efforts, he doesn’t see the need to continue honouring a contract which at the end of the day takes the biggest share because of the terms. In other words, it’s a lose-lose situation for him,” said the source.

Nairobi News also understands that Harmonize who has been with the label for four years now, signed a 15-year contract with WCB.

With his exit, he will be the second musician to leave after Rich Mavoko who barely completed two years of the 10-year contract he is believed to have signed with the label. At the time of his exit, Mavoko accused the label of exploitation.

Kenyan socialite Vera Sidika stole the show at Diamond Platinumz and Tanasha Donna’s baby shower after showing up skimpily dressed.

The well-endowed socialite was the center of attention at the event, after leaving little to imagination. Vera arrived donning a skimpy outfit of a white bikini combined with a see-me-through fish net and sandals.

“I have known Tnasha for about five  years now and she is my Kenyan sister and when she said you have to come to my shower I said yes. And she being a first time mother I wish her well and I know Diamond and her mother are very supportive,” said Vera.

For years, Vera has maintained cordial relationship with Diamond and hardly misses his events.

Vera once hosted a bikini party organized by Diamond, when the singer was dating Uganda socialite Zari Hassan.

A Kenyan is one of the participants in the season 3 of American reality TV show 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days.

Season 3 of the show, which premiered this month on the TLC channel, features among others Akinyi, a 25-year-old Kenyan woman.

90 Day Fiancé follows couples, with one partner being American and the other a foreigner.

In most cases, the couples meet online and in some cases they have never met in person. The show follows them as they meet in person, apply for a K-1 visa for the foreign partner to move to the US, and then decide whether to get married.

A K-1 visa is given to the foreign financé or fiancée, allowing him/her to enter the United States for a period of 90 days. Within the 90 days, the couple is required to get married and apply for a green card (lawful permanent resident status). If the couple fails to get married within 90 days, the foreigner must leave the US.

According to E! Online, Benjamin had a “miserable” time dating women around Phoenix, Arizona, and decided to expand his search through a dating app online.

He met Akinyi and was immediately smitten with the Kenyan beauty.

“One day, it popped up, ‘Hey, this person liked you!’ Her name is Akinyi, and I was like, ‘Oh, wow! This is a pretty gal.’ I mean, she’s gorgeous! But she’s all the way in Nairobi in Africa. How is she liking me?” he said during an earlier clip of the show. He sent her a message on the app and the two quickly hit it off.

Benjamin had his doubts about Akinyi at first, and wanted to make sure she was who she said she was, as well as the same woman in the photo, so he asked her to take a picture of herself doing the Vulcan salute from Star Trek.

“Who would have a random picture of the Spock sign? I was definitely impressed and once I saw Akinyi on video chat, I knew that she was the one,” he said, according to E! Online.

Akinyi has “never dated a white guy,” according to Benjamin, so he jokingly told her that he is “pretty fly for a white guy,” when they first started dating.

A promotion video shows a conversation between Akinyi and Benjamin, where Akinyi tells him that she will be his bride and they “will live happily ever after.”

Benjamin, 33, is a divorced father with a five-year-old and in the show he packs his bags and makes his first-ever international trip to meet her in Kenya and ask her parents for her hand in marriage.

It won’t be easy, as Benjamin is not only the first boyfriend Akinyi has ever introduced to her family, but also as far as they can remember the first white man to visit their village.

There was drama at the after party of Tanzanian Singer Diamond Platinumz and Tanasha Donna’s baby shower, when an admirer of socialite Vera Sidika tried to win her over using a campagne.

Vera shared on her Instagram Storie how the efforts of an admirer to win her affections were shot down by Diamond.

The admirer, whom she identifies as a Nigerian, ordered a bottle of champagne and requested a bartender to deliver it to her.

The bartender was, however, unable to complete the delivery after he was accosted by Diamond’s Wasafi Classic Baby WCB, members and told the bartender to “get lost”.

According to Vera, they justified their actions by saying they are the ambassadors of another brand, Bellaire.

“Naija boys, so, some Naija guy on the next table bought me a bottle of champagne, and asked bartender to give me. Dude dint care that bae was there. But WCB chased the bartender away coz they are ambassadors of Bellaire,” wrote Vera.

Diamond is the only artiste from WCB who is an official ambassador of the French brand.

The after party was a spectacle as the father to be literally showered his guests with champagne.

After the evening pleasantries of the baby shower were over, it appears Tanasha retired home leaving the boys to have their own version of a wild version of the party.

Diamond together with friends and other Wasafi artistes moved the party close to the deejay booth where they jammed to songs from the “Inama” hit maker.

Tanzanian actress Wema Sepetu’s dream to have a child is soon to become a reality after doctors gave her a clean bill of health.

The 31-year-old has been struggling to a have a child for the last 7 years.

She had wished to become a mother at the age of 24 but that never happened.

During that period, Wema has dated several men, gotten pregnant and twice lost the pregnancy due to miscarriage.

Her second miscarriage of twins, happened at the time she was dating former Big Brother winner Idris Sultan.

Sometime in August 2017, a despaired Wema, who has had to overcome trolls on social media for not being able to have a child, revealed that she intended to remove her uterus at the age of 30 if she wouldn’t have managed to get a child by then.

She then embarked on a journey to try and find out answers as to why she was having difficulties to have a child.

MEDICATION

In August 2018, she visited a hospital in India where doctors discovered that she was suffering from Polycystic Ovarian disease which causes her ovaries to rapture hence inhibiting fertilization.

She was put on medication for about a year and according to her, the consultations with her doctors is that she is fully recovered and should be able to have a child as from next years, if she so wishes.

Awali waliniambia siwezi kupata mtoto kwa sababu mfuko wa kizazi ulikuwa umejaa mafuta pia kulikuwa na vitundu ambavyo vilisababisha mbegu za uzazi zishindwe kupevuka,” Wema said.

Her inability to have a child is rumoured to have led to her breakup with singer Diamond Platnumz, who dumped her for socialite Zari Hassan, with whom he later had two kids before they separated.
